Texas Instruments' TPS563240 is a simple, easy-to-use, 3 A synchronous step-down regulator in a SOT-23 package. The peak transient output current can be 3.5 A. The device is optimized to operate with minimum external component counts and to achieve low standby current.
The switching regulator is controlled in D-CAP3TM mode to provide fast transient response and support low equivalent series resistance (ESR) output capacitors such as specialty polymers and ultra-low ESR ceramic capacitors without the need for external compensation components.
The TPS563240 operates in pulse skip mode to maintain high efficiency during light load operation. When performing an Out-of-AudioTM (OOA) operation, the regulator unit maintains the FSW above 25 kHz under light load conditions. The regulator is available in a 6-lead 1.6 mm × 2.9 mm SOT (DDC) package and operates over the -40 ° C to + 125 ° C junction temperature range.
